With international concerns mounting over alleged sectarian pro-government Shi'ite militias participating in the battle to liberate the largely Sunni city of Mosul, ISIS militants are now exploiting situation by staging fake sectarian execution videos to antagonize the Sunni population in northern Iraq and specifically Mosul.

In the very graphic footage below, ISIS fighters dress up in Iraqi uniforms and proceed to shoot a bound man at point-blank rage while deliberately yelling Shiite slurs.

At one point in the video, an assailant can be heard saying "Rafidhi", a term often used by jihadists to describe Shi'ites.

The covert Islamic State propaganda video was likely intended for recruitment purposes in the city of Mosul in an effort to encourage local residents to take up arms against the Iraqi Armed Forces.

For obvious reasons, Al-Masdar News is not able to independently verify the content of the mobile-recorded video.
